A Dharma sister passed away a week ago

She was a great practitioner, someone who devoted her life to help others.

Besides leading a small meditation group, she had a naturopathic clinic where she provided health care for many people, emphasizing the use of food as medicine.

A vegetarian since an early age, she refused to eat meat because animals were her friends—she grew up surrounded by many animals. She instinctively learnt which flowers were edible as a kid.

During the last two years, chemotherapy weakened her body, slowly but constantly. She endured constant pain, but never complained. I vividly remember how, during our last Dharma meeting, she explained how to use pain as an object of meditation. She is an example of someone who embraced life as it is, without bitterness or resentment.

As far as I know, she never got married or had children. She died peacefully and surrounded by many friends. I will always be grateful for her teachings and inspiration.
